Geography at Crockerne

Geography underpins a lifelong ‘conversation’ about the earth as the home of humankind. Geography therefore contributes to a balanced education for all young people in schools, colleges and other settings. (Geographical Association)

At Crockerne we aim to instil a love of geography! From EYFS all the way through to Year 6, our children are building a curiosity and fascination about the world around them. From taking local walks to learning about countries and populations far from home; understanding the structure of the Earth and studying natural disasters and the impact of climate change on our planet. The children at Crockerne develop an insight into the world's people, place and environments and the interactions between them. Our school aims to inspire the children to become geographers of the future.

Geography is an enquiry based subject answering such questions as:

  • Where is this place?
  • What is it like, and why?
  • How and why is it changing?
  • How does this place compare with other places?
  • How and why are places connected?
  • What could/should the world be like in the future?
  • What can we do to influence change?
