We have been using Ton Robson’s Gem project for the last year. Each Gem is related to a particular learning skill set which are in turn related to particular behaviours and feelings. The behaviours and feelings are generated by a number of neurotransmitters which wither enhance our ability to learn or impede it. The gem project helps the children understand that they are in charge of their feelings and behaviours and that with practice they can gather more gems sparkle. Both adults and children identify the gems the children demonstrate during their learning. Below you can see the gem – learning dispositions- the children gather every day. They truly sparkle with their learning.
