Following DFE guidelines we have been developing the curriculum for KS1 and KS2 to ensure complete coverage of the New National Curriculum ready for implementation in September 2014.  We have adapted our current Ofsted graded ‘Good’ curriculum to include the new curriculum changes and also feedback from the children.  We have changed our theme titles to questions for example; ‘Who is the most important, the person who built the pyramid or the person lying in it? This is to challenge the children’s thinking and learning so that during the term they can gather evidence for what they think is the answer.  We will gather what the children already know and what they think they need to know to answer the theme question.

The children will also be involved in planning the direction of their learning; the skills they need to learn to be able to carry out the end of learning celebration activity, for example, the maths, English and DT skills needed to run a pop up pizza café.

There is a higher expectation, within Maths and English in each year group, and we will continue to expect our children to rise to the challenge by using challenge activities and giving the children the learning opportunities to adapt their skills in different areas of the curriculum.

Please see either Co-Headteacher or your child’s class teacher if you would like to discuss the curriculum further.  We will continue to invite you in to share your child’s learning during each term.

On this tab you will also find information on how we have used our PE funding  to raise the activity level and use of our PE funding.
